The Alka-Rocket Challenge launch is happening November 8 in Houston!

These Big Ten teams are ready to blast their way into GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS history and compete for the opportunity to win $25,000.

The final teams for the Bayer-Big Ten Alka-Rocket Challenge are:

University of Minnesota
Northwestern University
Rutgers University

Their Alka-Rockets were judged on design, execution and creativity. The judges include Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American female NASA astronaut to go into space, Cliff Ransom, Executive Editor of Scientific American Custom Media, and Dave Brown, Space Center University coordinator for Space Center Houston.

On Wednesday, November 8th, the three finalist teams will gather at Space Center Houston to launch their Alka-Rockets and attempt to set the first-ever GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title holder for the Highest launch of an Alka-Rocket*. Please join us at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to observe the launches and the award ceremony. All are welcome to attend this historical and educational event.
